WARNING: This post has a lot of pictures, because we had a lot of fun making and eating pizza.
I was compensated for this post, but as always all opinions expressed are really my opinions. I only say things that I think are true. Thank you for supporting Flippin' Delicious! This week has been a really crazy, busy, but fun and exciting week! My hubby officially started his graduate program on Monday, and Miss E started preschool on Wednesday. On top of that I've had an extraordinary busy blog week. Still playing catch up after moving too. It is weeks like this that I am so glad that I have options like Papa Murphy's for dinner! I was really excited to get a behind-the-scenes look at Papa Murphy's, and see how they make their pizzas. I planned a little "field trip," but it happened to be on Miss E's first day of school, so she couldn't come with me. So I brought some of my younger siblings along. What is a field trip without kids? In case I haven't mentioned it before, I come from a very big family. My youngest siblings are still elementary school-aged, and are just a few years older than my own girls.
So let me tell you a little bit about Papa Murphy's gluten-free pizza. They really seem to have a pretty safe system in place to reduce cross contamination as much as possible. They use a certified gluten-free crust made by Udi's, but it is bigger than the plain Udi's crust you can buy at the grocery store. Until you order it, the crust stays sealed in a bag (no cross contamination.) The crust is put on one of Papa Murphy's bake-and-serve trays before it goes to the line to get topped.
First the sauce goes on (the Traditional Red sauce and the Creamy Garlic and a few of the other sauces are gluten-free), then some mozzarella cheese...
and then whatever toppings you'd like. Just before they wrap up your pizza it gets a sprinkle of some cheddar and provolone cheeses.
The meats don't have any funky fillers or anything like that, so you basically have your choice of all of the toppings. Tons of fresh veggies and meats to choose from! You can check out Papa Murphy's allergen information to double check the allergens in ingredients if you want.
Of course, Papa Murphy's also makes gluten-filled pizza. Although they don't have a certified gluten-free kitchen, they really work hard to minimize cross contamination when making gluten-free pizzas, but if you are concerned just remind them to change their gloves before they start your pizza. You can even ask them to grab toppings from the back instead of from the trays on the pizza line to decrease the chance for cross contamination.
Each pizza from Papa Murphy's comes on a bake-and-serve tray, so when you get home all you have to do is unwrap it and pop it in the oven. Each gluten-free pizza cooks about 12-18 minutes. I recommend following the directions to bake your pizza directly on the racks of your oven for the last few minutes so that your crust gets crisp on the bottom.
With Papa Murphy's it is a lot easier to feed the whole family a healthy meal, whether you eat gluten-free or not. I mean, just look at all the veggies on my pizza...
That right there is a Gluten-Free Gourmet Vegetarian pizza, with some chicken. So I guess it isn't vegetarian anymore. Creamy garlic sauce, spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, chicken, and onions, all on a gluten-free crust. With cheese, of course. That creamy garlic sauce, I absolutely LOVE it. The garlic flavor is subtle, and perfectly compliments all the fresh veggies. And of course we got a gluten-free pizza with pineapple and pepperoni to satisfy the rest of my family. Miss E gave her pizza a big thumbs up!
This weekend is Customer Appreciation Days at Papa Murphy's, and all pizzas are 50% off on Saturday and Sunday 8/29/15-8/30/15 (limit 2) at locations in New Mexico and Durango and Cortez Colorado. If you haven't already tried Papa Murphy's gluten-free pizza, now is a great time! Normally a gluten-free pizza at my location is $2 more than the regular large price, making a gourmet gluten-free pizza $15-$16. 50% off makes it only $7.50-$8.00. Such a steal!
Many Papa Murphy's also have $10 Tuesdays, so check to see if your local location does. That would also be a great time to try the gluten-free crust for less. I mean, $10! The people at Papa Murphy's are really nice. If you have any questions about any of their pizzas, gluten-free or not, just ask.
Also, I'm giving away some free pizza coupons and gift cards! Be sure to hop over to Facebook and Instagram where there are more giveaways. Pizza for everyone!
