When I was growing up my family only had soda on special occasions. The holidays was one of the few times that we would indulge and have soda in the house. One of our favorite ways to use ginger ale was to mix half juice and half ginger ale to make an easy, but refreshing drink.
Way fancier than plain old juice, but easy enough that us kids could make it. I have many fond memories of enjoying this drink over the holidays. We used it for “cheers” in the evenings leading up to Christmas, and we used it to ring in the new year more than once.
This year I wanted to elevate the flavors of that favorite holiday drink by using Canada Dry Ginger Ale®, cranberry juice and just a squeeze of lemon. The sweet cranberry juice is festive and cheery, and the lemon juice brightens the drink. I love the subtle kick of ginger from the Canada Dry Ginger Ale® but I also love making it with 7UP® because the citrus lemon-lime flavor really brings out that squeeze of lemon juice.
If you take a minute to plan ahead you can make these cute cranberry ice cubes. Just put a few fresh cranberries in your ice cube tray before you fill it with water, and then freeze as normal. Aren’t they so festive? I loved a real excuse to use my star shaped silicone ice cube tray. I got it ages ago but I rarely use it. I thought it was perfect for the holidays with the cranberries frozen inside.

I found everything I needed to make this refreshing drink during my weekly grocery shopping trip to Walmart, which is perfect because the holidays are busy and I needed to get gifts, stocking stuffers, and my groceries in one trip.
